The monitor is the one part of your setup you look at all day. Here's what really matters when you pick one for gaming.
Resolution and size
QHD (2560 x 1440) at 27 inches is the sweet spot for most gamers: sharp and easy to drive. 4K looks stunning but needs a powerful graphics card.
Refresh rate
A 144 Hz or 170 Hz monitor feels noticeably smoother than 60 Hz. Competitive players may like 240 Hz, but only if your PC can hit those frame rates.
Panel type
IPS panels give the best colours, VA panels give deeper blacks and OLED gives the best of both at a premium.
Look for 1 ms (grey-to-grey) for fast games, and make sure the monitor supports adaptive sync.
