Moving to another server

Move your store to a new host or from local to live without losing orders and settings.

There are two ways to move a store. Use the first for a complete move (orders, customers, everything); use the second only to carry your catalogue to a fresh install.

Full move (files and database)#

  1. Back up the old site: export the database (phpMyAdmin or mysqldump) and copy all files, including .env, storage and public/uploads.
  2. On the new server, create an empty database and user - see Database and purchase code - and check the Server requirements.
  3. Upload all files to the new server. Make sure storage, bootstrap/cache and public/uploads are writable.
  4. Import the database dump into the new database.
  5. Edit .env on the new server and update: - DB_HOST, DB_DATABASE, DB_USERNAME, DB_PASSWORD, - APP_URL (your new address, with https:// if you have a certificate).
  6. Keep the file storage/installed so the wizard does not start again. (It is part of your storage folder.)
  7. Recreate the cron job on the new server - see Cron job.
  8. Open the site, then in Admin > System > Info clear all caches.
  9. Update webhook URLs at your payment providers if the domain changed (https://new-domain.com/payments/{gateway}/webhook) - see Payments overview.
  10. Test: browse, add to cart, check out in sandbox mode, upload an image in the admin.

Purchase code and domain

A purchase code covers one live site. If you move to a new domain, that is the same site; you do not need a second licence.

If the storage link public/storage was created by a symlink on the old server, recreate it on the new one (php artisan storage:link), or let the new server serve uploads from public/uploads if symlinks are disabled.

Catalogue-only move (CSV)#

  1. On the old site go to Admin > Catalog > Products > Export to download a CSV file, including variations.
  2. Install a fresh Sellora on the new server with the wizard (demo content off).
  3. Go to Admin > Catalog > Products > Import and upload the CSV. Optionally add a ZIP file of the images. See Products.

Orders, customers, reviews and settings are not part of the product CSV; use the full move if you need them.

From local to live#

The full move works the same: export your local database, upload the files and edit .env. Remember to set APP_URL to the live address and APP_DEBUG=false.
