Cash on Delivery, Bank Transfer and Cheque
The three offline payment methods - no provider account needed.
Offline methods need no credentials and no webhooks. The order is created immediately with payment pending, and you mark it as paid when the money arrives.
| Method | Settings | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Cash on Delivery | Instructions text | The courier collects cash. |
| Bank Transfer | Bank details and instructions | The customer pays by wire transfer. |
| Cheque / Money Order | Payee and mailing instructions | Payment by post. |
Each has the common fields: Enable, Title, Description and Sort order. The instructions are shown to the customer on the order confirmation page and in the order e-mail, and are translatable.
Setting up Bank Transfer#
- Settings > Payments > Bank Transfer, switch on Enable.
- In Bank details & instructions write your account holder, bank, IBAN/account number, SWIFT/BIC and the reference the customer must use (for example "Please quote your order number").
- Save.
Handling offline orders#
- The order arrives with status Pending and payment Pending.
- When you receive the money, open the order and click Mark as paid. The customer gets a payment e-mail.
- Change the status to Processing, Shipped and so on as you fulfil it.
Orders that stay unpaid are released automatically after the unpaid order expiry set in Settings > Checkout, returning the reserved stock (this needs the cron job). For cash on delivery you may want a long expiry or to complete orders promptly.
There is no webhook for offline methods.
