Updating Sellora
How to install a new version without losing your data.
New versions are published on your CodeCanyon Downloads page and described in the Changelog. Updating never replaces your database content, settings or uploads, as long as you follow the steps below.
Before you update#
- Back up your database (phpMyAdmin export or your host's backup tool) and your files.
- Read the changelog for notes about the new version.
- Note your current version in Admin > System > Updates.
Update steps#
- Download the new package and unzip it on your computer.
- Upload the contents of the new
sellorafolder to your server and overwrite existing files - except: - the.envfile (it holds your database login and settings), - thestoragefolder (cache, logs, private files), - thepublic/uploadsfolder (your product images and media). - Open Admin > System > Updates. If the page shows pending migrations, click Run pending migrations and confirm. This applies any database changes the new version needs.
- Open Admin > System > Info and clear all caches.
- Check the storefront and the admin panel, and place a test order.
Customised files will be overwritten
If you edited files inside resources/views, public/assets or config, your changes are overwritten by the update. Keep a list of your changes, or better, use Admin > Appearance > Custom code for CSS and JavaScript tweaks, which are stored in the database and survive updates.
Updating from 1.0.0 to 1.1.0: run php artisan cache:clear once after copying the files (cached home sections from 1.0.0 keep an old security token until cleared), then php artisan optimize. The new Settings > Performance page turns the full-page cache on; see the Performance chapter.
If something looks broken after an update#
- Clear caches (step 4) and your browser cache.
- If a page shows an error, make sure you ran the pending migrations.
- Restore the backup if needed and contact support with the contents of the latest file in
storage/logs.
Version information#
The installed version and release date are shown at Admin > System > Updates, and the changelog bundled with your copy is displayed on the same page.
